SkyVerge is a SaaS eCommerce company specializing in WooCommerce plugins. I drove company UI/UX design as the founding designer working primarily on Jilt, an email marketing platform used by 800+ eCommerce stores. Jilt was sunset after GoDaddy acquired the company in 2020.

During my time at SkyVerge, I collaborated closely with engineering, PMs, and the company founders to design and ship 60+ new features, user experiences, and full-page interface updates. These enhancements utilized the newly-implemented Kodiak design system, which I ideated and developed from the ground up. I also crafted a variety of experiences within WordPress & WooCommerce to support SkyVerge's library of 50+ plugins.

Automations (view case study)

The Automations feature suffered from outdated legacy styling and a clunky UX that led to user confusion and preventable errors. I led a redesign to improve clarity and usability, leveraging our new design system and integrating a more robust email editor already used in other areas of the product. The updated experience streamlined the workflow while maintaining a familiar structure for power users, resulting in improved efficiency and user satisfaction.

Broadcast Templates (view case study)

Jilt users needed pre-built and reusable templates to streamline email creation and reduce effort. I helped design a solution that introduced 30+ native templates integrated into our email editor, along with the ability to save and reuse custom templates. This enabled users to create polished emails more efficiently while improving overall usability within the broadcast creation flow, and resulted in an increase in the average number of broadcasts created per store.

Order Receipts

Users struggled to set up automated order receipts within our platform due to a poor legacy UI, and were frequently confused about how to properly set up rules and segments. I led a design refactor of the entire workflow, leverage our new design system to create a card-based layout that simplified receipt management, streamlined the rule creation process, and added in-product messaging to increase user understanding.

Additional improvements

The payment & billing area of our platform was underutilized due to poor information hierarchy and unappealing visuals. In particular, users had trouble finding where to change or cancel their plans, which led to frequent user frustration. To reduce support volume and allow users to manage their plans with minimal friction, I led a redesign of the page that included more robust infographics with the most relevant plan information (based on research), the most important actions directly in the foreground, and a refreshed UI using the Kodiak design system.

To support new and returning users, we introduced a redesigned Jilt homepage as a central hub for help content, onboarding tutorials & videos, and a trial-period checklist. Research showed that users who arrived via the onboarding flow were far more likely to engage with the page, validating its effectiveness. The homepage met its goal of providing accessible, self-guided support that improved user onboarding and product adoption.

Many users relied on multiple plugins from SkyVerge's extensive WooCommerce catalog, but there was no dedicated space within Wordpress for users to manage all of them at once. I led the design for a new page with the goal of consolidating feedback, documentation, and support avenues, while also providing users with a comprehensive a list of their downloaded plugins and a dedicated space where they could receive messages about updates. While the messages were ultimately scoped out of the MVP, the resulting page led to an increase in feedback/research participants, newsletter sign-ups, and efficiency for our support team.
